United Nations Sunday Recognized

AAUW member Sylvia S. Heap has organized “United Nations Sunday” at Watertown’s All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church for nearly forty years.  On Sunday, October 23, another AAUW member, Doris McLallen, presented the message on this year’s topic, “Empower Women for a Better World.”  Pictured left to right: Doris McLallen & Sylvia Heap.

By the way, Mrs. Heap’s father, Dr. Stanley I. Stuber, attended the birth of the U.N. and spent many years promoting United Nations’ interests.  She has continued her father’s legacy, representing the Watertown church at the Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office in New York City for thirty-six (36) years. Mrs. Heap was honored at the Spring Seminar in 2010 with a plaque ‘for her dedication and leadership as an Envoy in strengthening our voice at the United Nations’.
