Red, White and Teal

IMG_0001 IMG_0002 IMG_0003 IMG_0004Jefferson County AAUW members visited the Agape Shoppe in down town Watertown on May 8, 2013 as our Red, White and Teal program.  The Agape Shoppe is a non-profit organization that sells fair trade gifts, home decor, jewelry, art and sculptures handcrafted by artisans around the world.  They purchase items from “Ten Thousand Villages” who create opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-term fair trading relationships.  They also obtain items from SERRV a non-profit agency dedicated to eradicating poverty wherever it resides by providing opportunity ad support to artisans and farmers worldwide. The Agape Shoppe also operates a Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Thrift Shop upstairs with high quality clothes and other items.   This shop has beautiful articles that make great gifts and support artisans’ worldwide.  Be sure to stop by and browse.  Anyone interested in helping out – they are looking for volunteers!
