from Watertown Daily Times — Alyssa-Ann F. Mckenzie-Chery, Black River, has been elected by the student body at Jefferson Community College to serve as the student member of the Jefferson Community College Board of Trustees for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Her term in the post began this month; her first official Board of Trustees meeting took place on July 2.
Mrs. Mckenzie-Chery is enrolled in both the liberal arts-humanities and social sciences associate degree programs and winery management certificate program at the college.
On campus, Mrs. Mckenzie-Chery is involved in a variety of activities including serving as office manager for student government and Jefferson chapter president of the National Society for Leadership & Success during the 2013-2014 year.
She worked collaboratively with student government and the American Association of University Women to coordinate Jefferson Community College’s first Women’s Empowerment and Success Series for students and community members in March of 2013.
She was previously employed as the director of events marketing and business development for The Event Firm International in Miami and as lead associate/public relations director for Labels Timeless Clothing in Vero Beach, Fla.
