Victims Assistance Center Presentation

Close to sixteen Jefferson County Branch members and their guests attended last night’s (Tuesday, October 20) discussion on domestic violence. Ella Mojica, advocate, presented to the group. She told the group about the services offered through the Victims Assistance Center, including, but not limited to: a rape crisis team; a safe shelter for women and children; a crisis hotline for suicide prevention, as well as, domestic violence; and a child advocacy center. The CAC as it is called, is a safe place for children to be interviewed by police, attorneys, and other advocates.  It was also mentioned that men are often victims of domestic violence, not just women and children. Although one out of four victims are women, and one out of seven are men. The Victims Assistance Center can be reached at 782-1855 or toll free: 1-866-782-1855.
